Vascular Care For Women

Through its Interventional Radiology department and the RAS Northern California Vascular Iinstitute, RAS offers a complete compliment of vascular care services including endovascular treatment of stroke, peripheral arterial disease, uterine fibroids and varicose veins.

RAS is devoted to ensuring you know the signs and symptoms of vascular disease. Our physicians specialize in comprehensive vascular care, including diagnostic imaging, surgery and minimally-invasive treatment alternatives. We work closely with your physician to make sure your care is as individual as you are. Our outpatient imaging centers offer the best in vascular imaging interpreted by extensively trained radiologists and performed by technologists with advanced certification in vascular ultrasound and nuclear medicine.  Our endovascular specialists – also known as  Interventional Radiologists -- provide the latest technology for treating many vascular conditions in a comfortable environment.  For those that need surgery, RAS’ board-certified vascular surgeon is credentialed at many of the hospitals in the area.

Varicose Vein Treatment

With a slight nick to the skin, a thin catheter and imaging technology, Interventional Radiologists treat varicose veins with a higher success rate, a lower recurrence rate and far less pain than surgery.

Vascular Imaging

RAS performs several specialized vascular imaging exams including arterial extremity duplex ultrasound, carotid ultrasound, venous insufficiency duplex ultrasound, Angiography, MRA and CTA .

PAD Treatment

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is a common circulation problem in which the arteries that carry blood to the legs become narrowed or clogged. This interferes with the normal flow of blood, sometimes causing pain, but often causing no symptoms at all. RAS Interventional Radiologists are able to treat PAD with angioplasty and stenting, two minimally invasive treatment options for PAD.

Stroke Treatment

Stroke is third leading cause of death in United States, behind high blood pressure and cancer. More men than women have strokes—although more women die from them. There are a number of diagnostic exams that can be performed to determine if someone has had a stroke or is at risk for having one. RAS Neurointerventional Radiologists, Interventional Radiologists and Neuroradiologists are a critical part of the stroke team.

Uterine Fibroid Embolization

Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), also known as uterine artery embolization (UAE), is a minimally invasive procedure performed under image guidance by RAS Interventional Radiologists. It is performed while the patient is conscious, but sedated. It does not require general anesthesia. Most women with symptomatic fibroids are candidates for UFE.
